The music department, as well as Courcol’s lively directing and writing, must be commended for scenes of the brass ensemble playing and rehearsing, in a constantly dynamic interaction with dialogue.

"The Marching Band," Emmanuel Courcol’s affecting brotherly drama, possesses a life-affirming soul whose earnest feelings invariably cut down on its potential complexity.

The Marching Band builds to a conclusion that is solemn and celebratory, with a flourish that is winkingly martial and unexpectedly tender.

With natural performances from the cast, a touching story, and a layered plot, The Marching Band is a must-watch. It celebrates how music brings people together but doesn’t shy away from spotlighting the socio-economic crises we’re living through.
