This campy, bloody, macho fight picture set in Northern Mexico is sure to find a niche audience. As Good as Dead is exactly the B-movie it aims to be, and its cast fits the bill perfectly, including a supporting performance from veteran Tom Berenger.

The film is fun from start to finish. Michael Jai White kicks a lot of a*s with a nice variety of action set pieces.

It is a rather rudimentary story but really will appeal to those who like old-school action films. Meaning a simple story, okay acting, cheesy dialogue, and plenty of ass kicking.

Michael Jai White delivers the goods as the hero who can take out villains with whatever is handy and have a funny quip when he is finished. The story is fast paced, exciting, and plays to its strengths.
