Critics consensus

“With Liam Neeson's gravelly gravitas proving to be a perfect fit for Frank Drebin's deadpan buffoonery, The Naked Gun revives the original trilogy's daffy sense of humor like it never went out of style.”

Akiva Schaffer’s police-procedural reboot is refreshingly silly and expertly paced, with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson fully committing to the bit.

So what if some of the jokes would have been corny even back in the late 80s when the series was first released? The sheer volume of comic nonsense wears down any resistance.

It certainly felt good to laugh and bask in some absurdity.
