Storyline

This film is a glimpse into the life, love and the unconquerable spirit of the legendary Bruce Lee. From a childhood of rigorous martial arts training, Lee realizes his dream of opening his own kung-fu school in America. Before long, he is discovered by a Hollywood producer and begins a meteoric rise to fame and an all too short reign as one the most charismatic action heroes in cinema history.

Critics consensus

“While its impact is blunted by an overly reverential approach to its subject, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story remains a reasonably entertaining biopic of the martial arts legend.”

Jason Scott Lee does his namesake proud in the title role, but the film tries to court too many different audiences, with lethal results.

It is invariably ominous in any biopic if, toward the end of the running time, the hero complains of a headache.

Best digested as entertainment that features reminders of Lee's philosophy, passions, and physical abilities, sold through a sensational lead performance from Jason Scott Lee.

...an often engrossing biopic that filters its subject’s existence through an admittedly (and entertainingly) stylized lens...
