There’s a beating heart at the center of this film that helps wallpaper over its flaws, a call for sincere action in a cruel and unjust world filled with people who, even as they may fight you, need your care.

What is surprising about Code 3 is that it manages to tell a persistently funny workplace comedy while presenting a paramedic’s duties as shockingly unpleasant and incredibly stressful.

Blending action, comedy, and (a cynical but still beating) heart, Code 3 is a love letter to the unsung heroes of our emergency services. A blood-soaked, disgusting, balls-out love letter, but a love letter nonetheless.

Code 3 may initially wear the scrubs of a frantic gross-out comedy, but underneath its seemingly flimsy garbs exists pointed commentary on the various policies clogging up the arteries of the healthcare system.
