Confession retains a knowing self-consciousness about itself as a pulp contrivance, even as it succeeds in milking the situation for plentiful tension, jolts and black humor.

The film’s economical runtime (just over seventy minutes) excuses some of the film’s weaker elements, keeping things taught and focused enough to shine.

A solid and interesting opening and middle third are let down by a wacky and repetitive ending.

Confession is an edge-of-your-seat, thrilling dual between two actors in complete control of their portrayals, modulating nail-biting suspense with pitch-perfect deadpan humor and brutal violence.
