Edge of Summer

Not perfect, this, but interesting.

While we can salute the ambition behind the film’s bold concept, it is a shame to see an intriguing idea so muddled in the telling.

As the film’s themes darken, so do the initially bright landscapes, and the colours of Evie’s clothes fade. This creates something of a sense that the characters are slipping backwards into a troubled past.

By mixing a supernatural element with a more mature take on the coming-of-age genre, Cohen has crafted a truly remarkable feature carried by its talented young stars.
