There is much to admire in this attempt to push the Bollywood envelope. It's rare for mainstream Hindi cinema to feature such sensitively drawn characters.

This is a film made with love, bolstered by wonderfully etched vignettes, Ranbir Kapoor's stupendous performance and a gorgeous soundtrack by Pritam. And yet, for me, Barfi was a singularly frustrating experience.

Perhaps, one day we will see the disabled in all their hues, in stories that truly are theirs, not churned out for our easy digestion.

A love letter to the best part of everyone.
