It’s disappointing that it didn’t take a bold leap and present a film that consists solely of the supper itself in real time, perhaps lingering on the culinary aspects of the meal and the chitchat between the disciples seated further away from Jesus.

Despite having the inspired casting of Robert Knepper as Judas—aka the "bad guy that audiences love"—this reimagined Jesus story is ultimately unoriginal and forgettable.

The Last Supper has some pacing issues, but the movie gives an adequately entertaining interpretation of this well-known Christian story. The movie's performances are credible and not as cringeworthy as those in other low-budget faith-based movies.

A faith-based film you can give up for Lent.
