Storyline

Just moments before his third wedding, Zahedi relates with utter sincerity and astonishing candor his obsession with prostitutes. He retraces his romantic and sexual history, including his ideological commitment to open relationships, that led to two disastrous marriages and several very pissed off ex-girlfriends.

Critics consensus

“I Am a Sex Addict takes a penetrating look at troublesome compulsions, although its unsurprisingly self-indulgent focus may test the limits of some viewers.”

Candor wins points almost anywhere, and that's what Zahedi has, in spades.

RTBoston GlobeMay 5, 2006

The narrowness of [Zahedi's] sexual repertoire is the springboard for a charming and boundless homemade sort of filmmaking.

RTLos Angeles TimesApr 28, 2006

... Zahedi tries to construct a narrative from his epic bad behavior, presumably for the purpose of shedding light on something. What this is remains mysterious after a single viewing, but not so mysterious as to inspire a second.

RTRob's Movie VaultSep 24, 2007

The movie nonetheless can't sustain the thin interest of a man's obsession with outlaw fellatio.
