David Hackl often shoots his bear in fashions that accent its lumbering, powerful grace, even during its death rattle.

It's a well acted, and often engrossing survival adventure...

While the final climax provides some modest thrills, the hour and change leading up to it is not worth the price of admission.

Watch it for the enjoyable cast, then throw in Backcountry for some real bear thrills.
