Storyline

A documentary about the confluence of Christianity and mixed martial arts, including ministries which train fighters. The film follows several pastors and popular fighters in their quest to reconcile their faith with a sport that many consider violent and barbaric. Faith is tried and questions are raised. Can you really love your neighbor as yourself and then punch him in the face?

John DeFore

RTThe Hollywood ReporterSep 15, 2014

Unlike the recent release American Jesus... this film is sincere about letting its protagonists explain themselves.

Richard Propes

RTTheIndependentCritic.comSep 7, 2020

The film toys with the concepts of masculinity and Christianity and how the two can possibly co-exist, but it really doesn't go anywhere with it all.

Andy Crump

RTPaste MagazineSep 25, 2014

The results never feel over-stuffed or undercooked; there's a balance here, and the film never tips too far one way or the other to upset its equilibrium.

... the faces behind the faith-based fisticuffs are as engaging as they are entertaining.
