Storyline

Costanza is drinking a beer in a Prague pub, a summer night in 1968, while a violinist enters and starts playing a "canone inverso" for her. It is not a case, that music and that violin have a story behind that could concern her. It is the love story between Jeno Varga and the music, between Jeno and Sophie.

This is a three-handkerchief movie, all right, but for the nose. It stinks.

RTChicago Sun-TimesOct 23, 2004

This movie has some of the worst dialogue one can imagine: She: 'What about passion?' He: 'What about support?' She: 'What about betrayal?'

RTNew York TimesAug 30, 2004

Once the cat is out of the bag, the movie turns rip-roaring awful in an entirely enjoyable way.

The final moments of the movie are among the most emotionally powerful I have ever seen.
