Present-tense drama comes when one of the boys decides he wants to be a girl, a development the filmmakers mine -- responsibly but resourcefully -- for strains of significance.

Red Without Blue is an understated but compassionate account of twin brothers who struggle to define themselves in terms of individuality and sexual identity.

This emotionally charged tale of identical twin brothers who make a very awkward pit-stop through puberty will fascinate and perplex.

Brian Gibson

RTVue Weekly (Edmonton, Alberta)Jul 1, 2008

Novelistic in its languid twists and turns, this astounding film superimposes images and photographs, or pans across the twins' shimmering hometown lake, only to dive in between the layers, plunging into the murky depths of identity and self-reflection.
