The deep pleasures of a simple story, simply yet eloquently told, is what makes Secret Superstar such an engaging, true watch. Till the first half. Post-interval, it dips, and the result is a film which stops short of being superlative.

More than the story, which leans on several tropes and clichés, it's the graph of the characters and the performances that elevate the emotion.

This is first-class entertainment, the best imaginable antidote to the toxicity presently leaking out of western movie circles.

SECRET SUPERSTAR is a really super powerful, emotional coming-of-age film with a heartfelt mother-daughter relationship at its core. The simple, almost fairytale-like narration is perfectly legitimate in transporting this empowering and inspiring story.
