Critics consensus

“Largely for fans of the source material but far from fatal(ity) flawed, Mortal Kombat revives the franchise in appropriately violent fashion.”

Leaning all into a foul-mouthed Aussie stereotype, [Josh Lawson] makes Hugh Jackman's Wolverine seem terribly polite.

It could have been much much worse. I went in with particularly low expectations but kind of enjoyed it. The thing I did enjoy most was the gratuitous gore...

It's ultimately a disappointment because Cole's emotional journey is uninvolving.

Fully embraces the franchises ultra violent identity. Is it great cinema? No. But great cinema has never been the assignment.
