Rukh

There's a somberness to the way this chronicle of a death unfolds, which holds your attention. Some scenes sit heavily, though. And if you are an alert viewer, you will figure out what happened much before the big reveal. But the rest holds.

Thanks to the sterling quality of the acting, the superb cutting... and unobtrusive cinematography (Pooja Gupte), Rukh never loses its way.

Rukh does a decent job of turning this intrinsic awakening into a full-blown plot. It even streamlines these complexities down to a single revelatory moment. The payoff is worth the patience.

Rukh has solid performances, especially from Bajpayee as the troubled businessman, and Mukherjee is sensitive to the corrosive impact of debt and financial corruption on families.
