Selling a tragic-to-triumphant story arc repurposed from any number of similar crowd-pleasers, Lellouche is blessed with seasoned actors who know how to charm.

The film boldly goes where no French film has gone before and with enough humour and heart to defuse such ungenerous thinking. Yes, it's a bit wet, but what else could it be?

As harmless as it is silly, but dampened by idle gags, empty characterization and an inordinate two-hour runtime.
