Storyline

Against his wife’s wishes, a troubled screenwriter hops on a plane to make one last-ditch attempt at selling his latest script. When a heavy-drinking, melancholic singer nearly plows him down with her car late one night, the two form a deep emotional bond that alters them both in unanticipated ways. Improvised dialogue and intimate, naturalistic camerawork lend a heart-wrenching authenticity to this bleak and beautiful character study.

Luke & Jo is a small film that continues to show promise for Joshua Overbay.

For an often familiar story, Luke and Jo stands out by virtue of its restraint.

Luke & Jo beautifully conveys the heartbreaking nature of our own crippling insecurities as the desire within us all to do better, to be better. If not for others, than for ourselves.

Digs in with surprising revelations and beautifully rendered bouts with faith. This faith could be with something/someone "higher" or it could be with ourselves. If it works, fine. But don't forget your feet on the ground and the support next door.
