Malina

One of the most fertile and furious blends of literature and cinema...

It goes completely bonkers in the last 30 minutes as things turn completely surreal. Huppert gives all to her blistering performance as a woman who desperately needs to validate her existence.

It's a distressing portrait of a woman in the process of a slow-burn self-immolation. And perhaps at last, three decades after its release, we can rediscover the brilliance of Bachmann.

It's a grim film, but I did find it provocative, intellectually stimulating and unique.
