Critics consensus

“Mickey 17 finds Bong Joon Ho returning to his forte of daffy sci-fi with a withering social critique at its core, proving along the way that you can never have too many Robert Pattisons.”

Bong Joon Ho’s playful adaptation of Edward Ashton's novel is delightfully odd and overtly political.

I feel like this movie was made by a Bong Joon-ho admirer who wanted to make a pastiche of Bong Joon-ho movies, but it's just not as good as the other ones.

I assume this works as a narrative for a book -- not so much as a narrative for cinema.

Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi epic has some excellent satire and impressive visuals. However, Mickey 17 ultimately takes on two separate, ambitious stories that don’t have the space to truly flourish.
