Storyline

In 1969, the band Sweetwater led by lead vocalist Nansi Nevins opened Woodstock and subsequently got considerable media attention. But just as they appeared to really break big, they disappeared. 30 years later, a cable TV reporter for a music station is removed from her show for being stoned on air and is given the choice of being dismissed or investigating what happened to Sweetwater.

The direction, acting, script and production team are all in play, but nothing scores.

What begins with a frame recalling “Driving Miss Daisy,” unfortunately, quickly descends into “The Legend of Bagger Vance.”

Somehow, a biopic about one of basketball’s most innovative and dynamic players is dull and derivative, turning this attempt to showcase the story of a pioneering Black superstar into a cinematic airball.
