Critics consensus

“Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves brings a wonderfully villainous Alan Rickman to this oft-adapted tale, but he's robbed by big-budget bombast and a muddled screenplay.”

While the makers of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves may have set out to bury the poor old duffer of Sherwood Forest in a welter of trendy banter, they have ended up burying themselves as well.

Viewed today, I dare say it's an epic adventure that becomes trivial and particularly conventional, during two and a half hours that I find unnecessarily long. [Full review in Spanish]
