We can't recommend this little item as a sample of the best in Gallic films. It is clumsily put together and rather bizarrely played.

The directorial debut of Roger Vadim is more titillation than continental cool, but its teasing display of sex and eroticism in the sunny vacation playground of the St. Tropez seashore ushered in the era of continental attitudes toward sex.

Brigitte Bardot as a wanton creature of nature driven men mad on the Riviera. The most absurd caricature of sex since Theda Bara.

A film that most certainly is not a masterpiece but that rises clearly -- from a moral point of view as well as from an intellectual or aesthetic point of view -- above the average.
