Into the Darkness

There's a great range of narrative in this movie, but the ending is lopped off to the point where I don't think there will be anyone who isn't confused by it.

You'd think this chapter in Danish history would inspire passion in a native filmmaker, but the movie lacks fervency.

This is not Luchino Visconti's "The Damned," which turned a similar premise into a nearly unwatchable miasma of grotesquerie. But neither is "Into the Darkness" more than watchable.

It doesn't end -- it stops... It's as though the two-and-a-half hours you've invested were a complete waste.
