In the end, even genre fans with relaxed standards might try to similarly rebel against this insipid offering.

Like its predecessor, "Code 8: Part II" uses its high concept sci-fi to critique the increasing violence of the militarized police state, especially in the age of surveillance.

It's an improvement on the original, but while this sci-fi crime thriller is more entertaining than the first movie, it's not more powerful.

Code 8: Part II takes on some interesting and ambitious thematic elements at the cost of character focus in this well-constructed sci-fi flick.
