Formulaic script and uneven tone. Disappointing.

The script stoops to cheap gags that undercut Affleck's efforts to sustain a believable character.

The 'grown-up' Kevin Smith exhibits greater ambition, but he's not quite so much fun.

I don’t know *what* was going on in the world in 2004, but Jersey Girl is just delightful. The big school review and George Carlin’s last scene with Affleck…*sniffles* I’m not crying, you’re crying.
