Weston Razooli's retro-styled debut is a patchy but sincere tween adventure film following a group of kids on a surreal mission to procure a blueberry pie in exchange for the password of their parents’ smart TV.

This is the work of a film-maker whose skill doesn’t yet match his bold vision. But with more experience, we could see great things from American writer/director Weston Razooli.

While the core conceit is sort of cute, Razooli really can’t direct actors who aren’t already seasoned with prior experience.

By channeling classic children’s adventure films and fantasy role-playing games, filmmaker Weston Razooli has managed to innovate upon these tropes in his debut feature Riddle of Fire, and he has also potentially made a future cult classic in the process.
