This is body horror at it’s most explicit, with little reprieve in a story that examines each aspect of diet culture...

Saccharine is less a barrage than a slow infection, with a well-judged atmosphere that feels equally haunting and haunted.

Writer-director Natalie Erika James (Relic, Apartment 9A) is a master of tension... But Saccharine is frustrating as its many excellent elements, including Francis’ performance, are let down by its unfocused script.

This enjoyable horror will satisfy a need but it lacks a true cutting edge, so you may find yourself soon hungry for more.
