Wolf has a friendly, peppy demeanor but delivers her punch lines like shanks to the gut

[Michelle] Wolf's HBO hour, chock full of real talk about the gender wars ("I want equal pay! And a Chardonnay."), confirms what the stand-up gods have known for some time: She's all done opening for dudes.

The result is an uncommonly confident, focused hour of comedy, all balanced with [Michelle] Wolf's tight yet often quite silly joke-writing.

This is the moment audiences (particularly the men out there) are ready and willing to hear her message, and to hear it from her.
